It’s official, Millington will be home to the next Lone Sailor monument, one of only 20 in the world and secured by reaching a monetary goal for the project.
On Wednesday, April 29, the City of Millington and the Navy League Memphis held a formal signing ceremony at Millington City Hall for the purchase of the statue. A recent grant commitment from Shelby County Commissioner Amber Mills helped the suburb reach the initial $100,000 goal needed to secure the contract for the monument with the United States Naval Memorial.
