Clay Bailey, a lifelong Memphian, has worked as a reporter in the city four decades. He concentrated on suburban coverage for the bulk of his career, except for a stint as sports editor of The Daily Memphian when it launched in September 2018. He now is suburban editor and also serves as a freelance sports writer for The Associated Press.
Clay Bailey offers a recap of suburban news and discusses a new restaurant in the heart of the Brunswick community, which is between the Memphis suburbs Bartlett and Lakeland in West Tennessee.
Reporter Michael Waddell, wandering through the area, noticed that crews were working on the old building complete with a sign christening it as the Brunswick Rail Yard.
Built in the 1940s, the building has served as the Brunswick General Store, the Brunswick Kitchen, the Brunswick Skillet and most recently Trudie’s Catfish Cabin.
