Shelby County reports 126 new cases, 1,868 tests
Shelby County reported 126 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Shelby County and one new death.
The county reports 1,868 tests were performed, which is short of its 2,400 goal per day. The daily positivity rate is slightly below 6.9%.
The overall positivity rate in the county is also about 6.8%
Since early March, 4,309 people have tested positive for the virus. While 2,948 people have recovered, 93 have died.
Shelby County Divisions of Correction also reported one inmate and 10 employees have tested positive at this time, but only five tests have been administered to inmates.
Tennessee Department of Health releases its updates at 2 p.m. daily. Saturday afternoon it said a total of 19,789 Tennesseans had contracted the virus. Of those, 12,745 have recovered and 329 have died. The state reports 1,573 people have been hospitalized and 373,758 have been tested.
