The voters have spoken, and they have chosen Connor Jones as The Daily Memphian high school football Player of the Week for Week 3.
Jones, a senior wide receiver at Lakeland Prep, captured 46% of this week’s total vote following a fine performance in his team’s 35-8 victory over Millington. He caught six passes for 170 yards and scored twice while also moving into 14th place on Tennessee’s all-time career receptions list.
John Varlas: Brighton running back voted player of the week
Second place, at 36%, was St. George’s quarterback Ford Lamar, who completed 12 of 14 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns as the Gryphons remained undefeated with a 42-0 victory over FACS.
CBHS quarterback Nate Brick was third, followed by Overton running back Quentious Bland and Briarcrest running back Octavius Flynn.
A new round of voting begins Monday, Sept. 14.
