And our local movie lovers at Slowdown Cinema Club are bringing them to Memphis for one night only. More than 200 of these giant posters will be available for sale at Ugly Art Co. Anthony Lee’s ‘River Coral’ closing reception at the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center, Friday:

The closing reception for artist Anthony Lee’s show at the Buckman is Friday, March 27. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian fil)

You’ve very likely seen the work of artist Anthony Lee if you live in Memphis. Among other works, Lee is the painter behind the nationally recognized “Modern Hieroglyphics” mural at Central Station on Main Street. His new exhibit, “River Coral,” is on display at the Levy Gallery through March 30. He describes the pieces as “emotional vignettes” that encourage the viewer “look closer and let your mind develop (the work’s) plot.” The opening for this show was cancelled due to late January’s winter weather, so the reception was rescheduled as a closing event. 5-7 p.m. Free. 60 Perkins Extd. The release party will include appetizers, wine and something called Pinch Punch. I don’t know what that is, but they seem to serve at every Pinch release party. So, I guess if you know, you know. 6 p.m. Free. 387 Perkins Extd. More info here. — Phillips
